What a great first day! Everyone seemed happy, even when it was a billion degrees outside at recess. |

"Hi everyone, welcome to Mr. Smithhisler's first grade web page. We're located at Sacred Heart Cathedral School in Dodge City, KS. On this site, you'll be able to find everything needed to keep you up to date on what 1B is up to during the school week and year. I will try to keep this up-to-date as much as possible. On the links above, you'll be able to navigate around our site. The "Pictures" link will allow you to view pictures from our classroom and activities that we've participated in. In the "Letter to Parents" link, you'll be able to read the exact same letter that was sent home to you in your child's communicator. The "Important Dates" link will list some, if not all, important dates for our class and school. In the "Notes from School" section, I'll post all current fliers that have been sent home with your child. They'll stay up until they're no longer relevant."
On the website you'll find everything 1B has going on. There are pictures, assignments, important dates, contact information, AR goals and plenty more! |

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to 2nd grade! The start of a new year holds the promise of new discovery and learning as well as the prospect of personal growth in all areas. I look forward to learning more about each child as we venture out this next year together.
I have many fun activities planned, but they are always educationally sound. If I motivate the students to learn, then part of my mission is met.
I find that communication is the key to success in our classroom. You’re free to contact me through the channels listed at the bottom of this letter. Communicators will be sent home nearly every day and will contain graded papers, letters from me, notes from the office and any other items I think you need to see. Please remember to sign and return the communicators the next day. Agendas will also be sent home on a regular basis. Your child will write down all assignments in their agenda. Please double check their agendas to make sure they’ve completed their homework (assignments will also be posted on our class website).
You will also receive a weekly newsletter to keep you current on projects and upcoming events. Everything included in the newsletter can also be found on our class website listed below. Our website is full of useful information for you and your child. Assignments, pictures, projects, important dates, and much more can all be found there.
My door is always open. If you have something to share or have any concerns please feel free to come see me or contact me through email or text message (much more effective for short questions and answers).
I look forward to a wonderful year with your child!
Sincerely,
Mr. John Smithhisler
